Theodores
The Teddy Bear of the Dog World
The Theodore's physical appearance closely resembles that of a Teddy Bear, characterized by their soft, cuddly bodies, large doe eyes, and floppy ears.
Theodores are affectionate and loving canines. They relish the time spent with their families and the comfort of snuggling on the couch.
Cuddling a Theodore is like embracing a plush Teddy Bear.
In 2021, breeders across Australia, in conjunction with the Master Dog Breeders & Associates (MDBA) began working together to create a new dog breed.
The breeding program is still 'a work in progress' as it will take time to achieve consistency across the breed.
This new breed, with their adorable teddy bear looks will be know as Theodores, taking the name form Theodore 'Teddy' Rosevelt, after whom the Teddy Bear was named.
The Theodore originates from the popular Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle crossbreed commonly known as Cavoodle or Cavapoo.
The popularity of these delightful little dogs with their lovable traits led to breeders wanting to use the Cavoodle foundation to create a formal pure breed as, there is significant variation in the size, weight, coat, temperament and health of the Cavoodle.
The aim of the Theodore Breeding Program is to create a group of healthy dogs with predictable look and temperament, making them a perfect for their intended purpose as Companion Animals.
This predictability will allow future owners to make informed and responsible decisions about the suitability of The Theodore for their lifestyle.
The Theodore is a New Breed in Development.
