ENS: Early Neurological Stimulation

Early Scent Introduction
Starting at 3 days old, I introduce my puppies to a variety of safe scents like herbs, spices, fruits, and natural items. Each day, I hold the puppy gently and let them sniff a new scent for 5–10 seconds, carefully observing their reactions without forcing interaction. This simple practice boosts neural development, builds confidence, and provides enrichment. I also document their responses to track preferences. ESI works beautifully alongside Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), creating well-rounded, curious puppies ready to embrace the world with confidence and adaptability.
Early Socialisation Program

Early Neurological Stimulation
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) is something I love doing with puppies between 3 and 16 days old to help them grow into confident, well-rounded dogs. It’s super simple and only takes a few seconds for each exercise. I gently tickle between their toes, hold them upright, upside down, on their back, and let them experience a cool towel for a moment. These little activities strengthen their hearts, boost their immune systems, and help them handle stress better. It’s amazing to see how it sets them up for success in training and socializing as they grow into happy, healthy companions!

Microchipping in NSW
As a breeder in New South Wales, I take my responsibility to microchip every puppy seriously. By law, puppies must be microchipped before they’re 12 weeks old or go to their new homes—whichever comes first. Microchipping keeps dogs safe and helps reunite them with their families if they ever get lost. I register the microchip details with an approved database, listing myself as the initial owner. When it’s time for a puppy to join their new family, I provide all the microchip paperwork. It’s part of ensuring every pup starts life securely and responsibly.

First Bath and Groom
Giving a puppy their first bath and groom is such a special moment! I usually introduce this around 7-8 weeks to help them get comfortable with being cared for. I use warm water and a gentle, puppy-safe shampoo, keeping the bath short and sweet to make them feel secure. Afterward, a soft towel and low-heat blow-dry keeps them cozy. Trimming their tiny nails takes extra care—I use a small trimmer to avoid the quick. Lots of cuddles and treats make it a positive experience. I love watching them enjoy the process and grow into confident, happy pups!
Socialization
Socializing my puppies is essential for their growth and happiness. By exposing puppies to new people, animals, and environments, I help build their confidence and reduce fear or aggression. A well-socialized puppy is easier to train, behaves better, and adapts to everyday life more smoothly. This process strengthens our bond, as they learn to trust me in unfamiliar situations. By introducing my puppies to new experiences gradually and ensuring interactions are safe, I’m setting them up to be friendly, confident, and well-adjusted adult dogs.

Crate Training
Introducing crate training puppies before they head to their new homes sets them up for success. It gives them a safe, comfy space that they can retreat to when they feel overwhelmed, which helps them adjust more easily. Plus, it makes house training so much smoother since they naturally avoid soiling their sleeping area. Familiarisation with the crate is a great way to make travel and vet visits less stressful and helps puppies make a smooth transition from my home to their new family life!
Personality Assessment
I perform Elite Breeder Canine Personality Tests when the puppies are 49 days old, as it's the ideal time in their development to conduct these assessments. At this age, they're developed enough to show their natural traits, but not yet influenced by external factors or fear phases. These tests help me assess each puppy's temperament and match them with the perfect owner or environment. It improves compatibility by aligning the puppy's personality with the owner's lifestyle, reducing the chances of mismatches or returns. It also helps predict behaviour, ensuring a good fit for long-term happiness.

Potty Training
I begin toilet training the puppies when they're around 4 to 5 weeks old, as they start to gain control over their bladder. I set up a designated area with artificial grass indoors and an outdoor spot as well. I make sure to take them there regularly after meals, playtime, or naps. I'm always keeping an eye on them, especially when they're not in the designated area. If I notice signs they need to go, I quickly take them to the right spot. When they do it right, I shower them with praise and treats! If accidents happen, I clean up thoroughly to avoid any lingering scents.
