PREGNANCY SERIES

Welcome to Week Three: Where the maybe becomes a maybe-hopefully, and the uterus starts dropping hints like a cryptic love letter.

Still no ultrasound fireworks or belly drum solos, but something’s shifting. Poppet’s naps are deeper, her glances more knowing, and her appetite? Let’s just say she’s treating her food bowl like a sacred ritual. We’re not calling it pregnancy yet—but I’m hoping her vibes are leaning heavily toward “yes.”

She remains the queen of ambiguity, starring in the slow-burn sequel: “I Might Be Pregnant, But I’m Also Just Really into Blankets.”
She’s sleeping with intention, sniffing with suspicion, and occasionally staring into the middle distance like she’s receiving transmissions from her ovaries.

Around Day 19 to 21 after ovulation, the tiny embryos — now called blastocysts — start embedding themselves into the uterine wall. I imagine them spacing themselves out along the uterine horns, each one finding its place, each one beginning its own journey.

Her body begins forming placentas to nourish and protect these developing lives. Though they’re still microscopic, they’re no longer just floating possibilities. They’re connected now — and her body knows it.

How I Support Her (Without Turning into a Canine Doula) 🐾🫖

This week is all about calm vibes and quiet consistency. No surprise visitors, no schedule shake-ups, and absolutely no judgment if she wants to nap in three different spots before lunch. I'm embracing the art of soft companionship and low-key praise.

Here’s our current rhythm:

  • Companionship: I’m still nearby, still pretending not to whisper affirmations at her belly like a hopeful life coach.

  • Meals: Snacks are slightly more frequent, served with gentle ceremony. The broth drizzle now gets its own moment of reverence. Her diet stays steady — high-quality, familiar, and vet-approved. No surprise superfoods or experimental supplements here.

  • Atmosphere: There’s a comfy bed in every room (yes, every room). Nesting zones have been upgraded. Blanket count is officially “plush and rising.”

  • Movement: We take our daily walk beside the lake — slow, scenic, and full of sniff stops. In the afternoons, she sometimes requests a game of Go Fetch, which I oblige with the enthusiasm of a personal butler.

No need for wellness retreats or essential oil rituals. Just presence, softness, and the occasional “you’re doing amazing, sweetie” whispered into the fur.

What I’m Noticing

This week, the mood has shifted — Not dramatic, not obvious- just a soft, enchanted hush. Poppet’s moving through her days like she’s got a secret and isn’t quite ready to spill.

Here’s the scoop from my side of the doona:

  • Her naps are deeper, her corners cozier, and her snuggles are offered on a strictly limited-edition basis.

  • She’s serving serious “I know something you don’t, and I’m not telling” energy — with a side of slow blinks and mysterious sighs.

No big reveals yet. No fireworks or fanfare. Just a quiet confidence, a few theatrical stretches, and the growing sense that something is gently unfolding — even if she’s keeping the plot twist tucked under her blanket for now.

💌 For Future Families

Week Three is the whispered yes — the quiet moment when the story begins to stir beneath the surface. If your future pup is growing inside Poppet right now, this is when their blueprint begins to unfold: tiny cells making big decisions, each one choosing their destiny.

It’s a week of trust. Of watching and waiting. A time to honour the mystery without rushing the reveal — because some beginnings prefer to arrive in whispers, not fanfare.
